SMSU SWIMMING AND DIVING: Bohnert earns NSIC Swimmer of the Week honors
BURNSVILLE – Southwest Minnesota State University junior Natalie Bohnert has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday following her performances in a dual match versus Minnesota Morris last Friday night.
It’s the first time an SMSU swimmer has earned the award since the program was started prior to the 2019-20 season.
Bohnert, a native of Petersburg, Ind., captured three individual victories in SMSU’s dual victory over UMM. Competing in the 400-yard IM for just the second time in her career, she captured first place by 22 seconds with a time of 4:48.24. She won the 100-yard butterfly by six seconds with a time of 1:00.97 and won the 100-yard backstroke by seven seconds with a time of 1:00.67. Bohnert also had a 25.2 split on the final leg of the 200-yard medley relay team that placed second.
Bohnert is a four-time All-NSIC honoree during her Mustang career earning all-conference accolades in the both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke in both 2020 and 2021.
A 2019 graduate of Pike Central High School, Bohnert is also a member of the SMSU women’s golf team.
Southwest Minnesota State, 9-5 overall, 5-4 NSIC, resumes play this Friday with a 5:30 p.m. game at Northern State University.
