Bluenose Gopher Public House receives $50,000 in national grant funding

Bluenose Gopher Public House, a cooperative public house nestled in the heart of downtown Granite Falls, has received $50,000 from the Backing Historic Small Restaurants Grant Program, a program presented by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express. This year, 50 restaurants across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands will each receive a $50,000 grant to help renovate and grow their businesses. Women of United Way hosting Power of the Purse

Women United of United Way of Southwest Minnesota will be hosting Power of the Purse at 6 p.m. on May 9 at the 5 Family Ranch in Marshall. Fund raised fuels Women United’s impact initiatives. The evening will feature designer handbags. Tickets for the event cost $55 each, and the proceeds will support local initiatives to prepare young children in our area for kindergarten and beyond. Cohrs-Rohlik will speak after Monday Mass

Holy Redeemer Council of Catholic Women (CCW) is hosting an evening of Mass at 5:30 p.m., a light meal, and a guest speaker. Gabrielle Cohrs-Rohlik will present her testimony, “The Divine Symphony of Trust. Quieting Inner Unrest and Finding Peace.” Event will be held Monday in Carlin Hall. 503 West Lyon in Marshall.

GriefShare program available

Community members who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to participate in a GriefShare program held at Holy Redeemer Church. This nondenominational program features Christ-centered, biblical teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. The DVD seminar features nationally respected grief experts and real-life stories of people, followed by a small group discussion about what was seen on the DVD.
