LAKE SHETEK — The fishing team of Steven Swanson of Marshall and Jordan Hively of Tracy figured they had enough in their fishing net to place pretty high in the Lake Shetek Sportsmens Association Walleye Tournament.
“We caught a lot of fish today,” Swanson said, as the pair waited in line to get their Walleye weighed.
The digital scoreboard registered 11.88 pounds for Swanson and Hively.
And it turns out that was the winning reading and good for $1,200.
“Very amazing,” Hively said.
They both said it was the first time they ever won anything at a fishing contest.
Meanwhile, the team of Brian Greve and Hunter Greve took second place with 11.67 pounds and collected a check for $900.
“Feeling thankful for a great weekend on the water with my old man. We Took home 2nd place in the Shetek Fishing Tournament,” Hunter Greve wrote on his Facebook post.
And the team of Adam Munkel and Adaline Munkel received $600 for third place at 10.48 pounds.
The Munkels also recorded the largest walleye at 6.77 pounds.
Fourth place belonged to Jon Joenick and Josh Trump at 10.24 pounds and fifth place went to Jeff Hayden and Carter Tauer at 10.13 pounds.
“Mother nature held off with rain and storms but the wind made its presence and a challenge for all the boaters,” the Shetek Sportsmens Association reported on its Facebook post about the results.
