To the editor: Hello, my name is Samuel Lund, and I am a very involved student at Southwest Minnesota State University. I dedicate my time, especially in our student government, to my campus because I love the positive atmosphere and welcoming community it provides. I have been at SMSU for almost 2 and ½ years and have noticed that my school doesn’t have a wide variety of outdoor amenities or facilities for students to use. Legalize gummies in Marshall

To the editor: I believe it is time to stop living in the past and accept what is. Only two cities in Minnesota have banned the newly legalized marijuana gummies, Marshall included. Considering there are only select stores that could sell them, it would not change the identity of Marshall that we all know and love. It would include Marshall into Minnesota’s new norms. To the editor: Libraries are the heart of every community. They are a place for everyone to grow, engage, and learn. For some, the library is a means of accessing the internet and technology. Others use the library to engage with the community, and, of course, it is a place to find thousands of adventures through books. Funding for the library is on the decline, and they need community support now more than ever. Madetzke is voice for basic education

To the editor: On Thursday, Oct. 27, the debate for the Marshall School Board was held in the Marshall Lyon County Library that was attended by a standing room only audience. The event was well moderated but due to the large number of candidates there was not enough time for more than a few questions. In the closing statement by Trudy Madetzke a point regarding the showing of objectionable movies and required reading was brought up.
