Sturrock will be highly effective commissioner

To the editor: I am writing to state my strong support for David Sturrock, who is running for Lyon County Commissioner in District 2. I got to know David through his many years of service in Marshall city government, including our time together on the city council. He has also donated generously of his time and leadership talent to a number of community groups, including cub and boy scouts, the chamber of commerce and as president of his church council. David also has a knack for talking with people of all backgrounds in the community, and in his job working with SMSU students from ...

Law enforcement urges vote for Dahms, Swedzinski

To the editor: Minnesota’s largest police association, representing over 10,000 rank and file law enforcement officers, enthusiastically supports the re-election of Sen. Gary Dahms and Rep. That starts with respecting police as partners and holding violent criminals accountable. These legislators will make sure our public safety officials have the support, resources, and policies that provide for a ...

For those few hours, no one has to worry about bills, work, homework, or any other things that need to get done. Live theatre lets people be transported into a different world with zany characters and wacky storylines that can provide commentary on many different things. Because of the COVID pandemic this country has faced in the last few years, audiences for live theatre in Marshall have severely dwindled. I am ...

Info available on school referendum

To the editor: Having spent 38 years as band director at Marshall High School, I know first-hand how important strong schools and a quality education are for students in Marshall. My wife and I are very proud to call Marshall home and to have raised our children here. It is through the quality education they received from Marshall Public Schools: 1. They were extremely successful in college, 2. All went on to earn their master’s degree, and 3. All are very successful in their chosen occupations. Throughout my career I have experienced the highs and lows of education funding ...
