NEW PRAGUE — The No. 7 Marshall wrestling team finished as the runner up at the New Prague Trojan Invite on Saturday. After dropping their opening dual to New Prague by a score of 38-15, Marshall won each of its next three duals to close the tournament on a high note.

The Tigers rebounded from the opening-round loss with a 34-19 win over Elk River and followed up with another decisive 38-22 win over St. Francis. To close out the invitational, Marshall eked out a win over Wayzata by a score of 32-30.

Brayden Chandler picked up a team-high three pins across the four duals in 189, pinning his opponent in the New Prague, Elk River and Wayzata matches. He also won by forfeit against St. Francis to pick up a total of 24 points in his 4-0 day.

Lincoln Christenson also earned 20 points for the Tigers in 127. Picking up where he left off as last year’s Class AA state champion, Christenson picked up pins against Wayzata and Elk River, both of which came in a minute or less, and won by 21-5 technical fall against St. Francis and via 15-8 decision against New Prague.

Colton Chandler also earned a pair of pins in 145 while DeCamp finished with one in 152.

Marshall improves to 8-1 on the season after the tournament and next competes on Thursday in a triangular at Redwood Valley with Sibley East at 5 p.m.
