REDWOOD FALLS — It was a picture-perfect Sunday at Redwood Speedway, but the action on the track was pure, high-octane chaos. Fans packed the stands at “The Big House” for a thrilling multi-class program that delivered late-race drama, dominant performances, and an emotional tribute to a fallen racer.

Danube Auto Works Sport Modifieds

The afternoon kicked off in thrilling fashion with the Danube Auto Works Sport Modified division, where a late-race mistake completely reshuffled the podium and extended a dominant winning streak.

A competitive field of 13 cars checked into the pits for the 15-lap main event. Sharing the front row for the green flag were Matthew Luebke (No. 29) and Jesse Dieball (No. 16). However, it didn’t take long for Jacob Korte, piloting the No. 81K, to charge his way to the front and seize an early lead.

Korte looked incredibly strong, hitting his marks and controlling the pace for nearly the entire feature. But with just two laps to go on Lap 13, Korte slipped out of the optimal racing groove. That split-second mistake was all Eric Larson needed. Capitalizing instantly, Larson slid his No. 7L into the top spot to capture his third consecutive Sport Modified feature victory at Redwood. Korte recovered to finish second, while Blake Luienburg rounded out the podium with a stellar third-place finish in the No. 16X.

Evolution Ag Tech Hobby Stocks

It was an incredibly emotional night at the track as the Evolution Ag Tech Hobby Stock division paid its respects to a fallen brother, honoring the memory of Nathan Gegner. The Morgan, MN driver of the No. 99 tragically passed away earlier in the week, and the entire racing community stood together to remember him.

When the green flag dropped, the racing action picked up quickly. Tyler Lambrecht, piloting the No. 25L, charged out to secure the early lead. However, his strong run would literally go up in smoke when he spun out directly in front of the field charging into Turn 1.

The incident completely shook up the leaderboard and handed the top spot to Roger Krebs in the No. 69. That was all the Clements driver needed. Once Krebs got clean air, he checked out and hid from the rest of the field, cruising to a dominant victory. Austin Jahnz put on a great run to bring the No. 32J home in second, while Brad Jones crossed the line in the No. 17L to round out the top three.

Mager Construction IMCA Modifieds

The Mager Construction IMCA Modified feature was a clinic in pure dominance, courtesy of Danube’s own Brandon Beckendorf. From the drop of the green flag, Beckendorf put the field on notice, putting his No. 5 machine up on the high side and setting it to “seek and destroy.” He never looked back, putting on a masterful performance on the top shelf to check out and cruise to a commanding victory.

Jesse Rogotzke put together a strong performance to claim the runner-up spot in the No. XXX, while Dan Menk brought his No. 19M home to round out the top three.

IMCA Sport Compacts

The IMCA Sport Compacts were up next, and they absolutely brought the house down with a highly entertaining show. Sharing the front row for the feature event were Kevin Madison in the No. 48K and Chris Vande Kieft in the No. 28C.

When the green flag dropped, Vande Kieft hammered the throttle, seized the early lead, and never let go. While Vande Kieft was busy pacing the field out front, the real fireworks were happening deeper in the pack. Brandon Louwagie (No. 28X), RJ Esqueda (No. 29), and Gary Schumacher (No. 51X) threw down a thrilling, high-stakes battle that kept fans glued to their seats.

While Vande Kieft crossed the line to secure a fantastic feature win, it was Louwagie who won the war through traffic to take home second place. Esqueda capped off his impressive run by rounding out the top three in the No. 29.

J&S Trucking / Vesta Bar IMCA Stock Cars

The final feature of the night belonged to the class “Too Tough to Tame”-the J&S Trucking / Vesta Bar IMCA Stock Cars-and they absolutely lived up to the billing. The moment the green flag dropped, sparks flew instantly. Shaun Bruns jumped out to the early lead in the No. 71D, but he had zero room to breathe as the field went a wild three-wide for the first four laps of the race.

It quickly turned into a family affair at the front of the pack when Jake Bruns, piloting the No. 71X out of Redwood Falls, began reeling in his cousin. Meanwhile, Jordan Rogotzke was putting on a clinic in the No. XX. After starting back in the sixth position, Rogotzke sliced his way through the field. By Lap 8, he made a breathtaking, high-side three-wide move around both Bruns drivers on the outside of Turn 2 to seize the lead.

Rogotzke faced intense pressure in the closing stages of the race, but he held his line perfectly to hold off the hard-charging No. 71X to capture a spectacular feature win. Jake Bruns settled for a strong second-place finish, while Joseph Domeier drove an incredible race to secure his best career finish in a stock car, rounding out the top three.
