Tiger girls finish as meet runners-up at Hutch Invite
HUTCHINSON — The Marshall girls golf team finished second out of nine teams at the Hutchinson Girls Invite, putting together a team score of 386 at the 18-hole tournament at Crow River Golf Club.
The Tigers finished behind only the hosting Hutchinson’s score of 365, while Delano took third at 395 as the only other school below 400.
Dayton Webskowski was the Tigers’ top performer on the day, placing fourth with 91 strokes on six pars.
After Heritage Christian Academy’s Paige Sawicky took fifth in the 46-golfer field, Marshall had another pair with Grace Rokeh and Maddi Panka placing sixth and seventh.
Rokeh shot an 83 on the day, with her round being highlighted by six pars, while Panka was right behind her with a 95. Panka also had Marshall’s lone birdie of the day on the par-4 14th hole.
Hutchinson’s Elle Schweim and Addison Longie were the top two individuals in the meet, carding a 79 and an 82 respectively, while Delano’s Brynn Spanier placed third with 87 strokes.
Marshall’s Anna Thor and Isabella Gossen tied Litchfield’s Emma Knudson and Kate Brekke for 19th place with 107 strokes.
Ali Pederson, the lone Marshall senior this year, placed 33rd at 116.
Marshall next competes on Monday, when it hosts a Big South Divisional meet at Marshall Golf Club at 4 p.m. In the first Big South meet of the season at Montgomery National Golf Club last Monday, Marshall placed first out of seven teams with a score of 189, beating out runner-up Worthington by 20 strokes.
