MARSHALL — In front of a packed gymnasium, the Marshall dance team put on its hometown showcase, displaying various routines across multiple age and skill levels. The showcase featured all three Jazz teams and both Kick teams performing their competition dances, as well as performances from a few Just For Kix teams.
With the showcase serving as the only performance at home this season, Marshall coach Emily Kern said it’s special to be able to work with their younger dance programs and show the community their skills on their home floor.
“It’s great. We love being able to collaborate with our local Just For Kix program to see the little ones in our community doing what they love to do and hopefully that transcends into them being a Marshall dancer one day,” Kern said. “We love being able to have a performance here in our hometown gym; we rarely get to compete or perform here, so it’s nice to show the Marshall community members what dance is all about.”
Marshall will compete next weekend at the Belle Plaine Invite on Saturday. Kern added as they progress through the season, she is looking forward to watching her team grow as a group and strengthen their bond.
“What I look forward to the most is just continuing to see our team grow and evolve,” Kern said. “Our dances are constantly changing and being altered to continue to improve, so I love seeing that, but even more than the improvement in our routines, I really value seeing our team grow closer and have a more special bond because every season and every team is different, so we love to watch that growth as the season goes on.”
