Dragons upset MCC in elimination bracket
MILROY — The top-seeded Murray County Central baseball team’s season came to a close on Thursday as the Adrian-Ellsworth bats overcame the Rebels’ pitching for a 2-0 win in the Section 3A tournament’s elimination bracket.
Murray County’s pitcher, Dylan Kluis, was able to retire the first seven batters. In the third inning, however, the Dragons had a pair of singles and hit a ball into right field for a 1-0 lead.
The bats remained quiet for the rest of the game for Murray County. Except for three singles hit by Kluis, Gavin Gillette, and Teague Meyer. Which wasn’t enough to overcome Adrian’s 2-0 lead.
A pair of Murray County Central errors gave Adrian an insurance run in the sixth inning. Adrian’s pitcher Keagan Polzine was able to close the game by retiring the last nine batters to seal the deal on the game.
Adrian plays against Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at Irish yard on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Murray County Central ends its season with a 14-5 record and graduates four seniors in Aidan Dierks, Owen Gillette, Jesse Kline and Wyatt Loosbrock.
