In the opener, Pipestone jumped out to a quick lead, using a one-out walk and a single to put a pair of baserunners aboard before an error plated two runs and an RBI groundout added another to make it 3-0 after the first half-inning.

Marshall also had multiple opportunities on the offensive end, including getting a runner in scoring position in the first and loading the bases in the second, but weren’t able to capitalize. After a scoreless third, Pipestone then got back on the board, leading off the fourth with a double and advanced on an error before an RBI single made it 4-0.

Marshall wouldn’t go down without a fight, however, as Andrew Cowden reached on an error to lead off the bottom of the fifth and Brayden Myhre drew a walk before a wild pitch brought in a run to put them on the board, but that was the closest they got as Pipestone took Game 1, 4-1 in six innings.

Ashton Blomberg and Preston Grosklogs led Marshall with a hit each.

Myhre took the loss on the mound, going six innings while allowing four runs on three hits and struck out five.

(6 innings) (Game 2)

In Game 2, Pipestone continued its momentum from the opener, using an error and three hits to plate four runs in the first half-inning. Marshall had an answer, though, with Luke Novotny reaching on an infield single before advancing to third on an error and later scoring on a wild pitch to make it 4-1 after one.

It would stay that way until the bottom of the fourth, when Blomberg got a leadoff single and Grosklogs drew a walk before Brayden Ust brought in a run on an RBI single to make it 4-2, but Pipestone answered right back in the ensuing at-bat, getting an RBI groundout to push the advantage to 5-2.

Pipestone then added a pair of RBI singles and another run on an error in the top of the sixth to bring it to the 8-2 final.

Novotny led Marshall with two hits while Ust added a hit and an RBI and Blomberg had a hit.

Blomberg took the loss on the mound, going four innings while allowing four runs on four hits and struck out five.
