GRANITE FALLS – Construction of the new C-Store in Granite Falls is nearing completion and a grand reopening is set for June 22, according to store officials.

The former C-Store building was demolished and the $5.2 million construction project started started on Oct. 1. Besides the building, the project is replacing the gas pumps, tables and chairs, appliances and LED lights.

“This is a state of the art new build,” said Robin Enevoldsen, regional manager of both the new C-Store, the Travel Plaza and the other Cenex cooperative in Granite Falls.

Enevoldsen said the new building will be energy efficient. The 4,900 square foot store is roughly the same size as the original. New features include a coffee area, dining area seating and freezers in the back for some of the food on the menu.

The new location will also feature new appliances to enhance the menu, including a smoker for brisket ribs, a grill for full breakfast meals and a roaster for the chicken as a healthier option than the deep fried chicken the old C-Store had.

“For most parts of the kitchen you’re going to be able to see what’s going on,” said Dennis Anderson, site superintendent at Westmor Industries, the project construction manager for the new building.

The new C-Store will open five weeks ahead of schedule, just in time for Granite Falls’ Western Fest PRCA Stampede Rodeo. A soft opening will be held June 17.

“The only reason I decided to go into this project is to get community loyalty,” Enevoldsen said. “We’re doing everything we can to draw that community in.”

Starting at $3.95/week.
