AREA BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Marshall Junior Legion Black ties with Slayton, 3-3
SLAYTON — The Marshall Junior Legion baseball team earned a 3-3 tie against Slayton on Thursday.
Parker Schmitt led Marshall with two hits and an RBI while Andrew Wallen added a hit and an RBI and Zach Leibfried and Ashton Rowe each had a hit.
Rowe earned the start, going 4 1/3 innings while allowing three runs on three hits and struck out four. Wallen tossed 3 2/3 innings in relief, allowing no runs on no hits and struck out six.
Marshall Black (16-3-1) will play in the Alexandria tournament this weekend and will face Alexandria Black today at 1:30 p.m.

Marshall 10, Granite Falls 1
GRANITE FALLS — The Marshall amateur baseball team defeated Granite Falls 10-1 on Wednesday.
Matt Hmielewski led Marshall with two hits and four RBI while Joe Rock added three hits and an RBI, Jordan Mernaugh had two hits and Zach Olson, Logan Tomasek and Ryan Schwagel each had a hit and an RBI.
Hmielewski earned the victory on the mound, going nine innings while allowing just one run on two hits and struck out 15.
Bennett Knapper and Christian Kanten led Granite Falls with a hit each. Adam Brewers took the loss on the mound, going seven innings while allowing four runs on six hits and struck out two.
Marshall will face the Milroy Yankees on the road today at 7:30 p.m. while Granite Falls will face Raymond on the road next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
