SMSU GOLF: Augustana earns team title at Ramada Mustang Invite; SMSU places eighth overall
MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team finished in eighth place at the 22nd annual 12-team Ramada Mustang Invite completed on Sunday at the par 72 Marshall Golf Club.
SMSU, which shot a 334 during Saturday’s first round, finished with a 326 on Sunday to record an 84-over 660 for the tournament.
Augustana won the team championship with a 32-over 608, finishing 19 shots ahead of second place Minnesota State (627). Augustana’s Alex Stone tied a tournament record with a 2-under 70 on Sunday and earned medalist honors with a tournament-tying record even-par 144. She finished six strokes ahead of teammate Hannah Hankinson.
SMSU freshman Courtni Frank shot her second-straight low round of the season today with a 6-over 78 to finish tied for 17th in the 85-player field with a 15-over 159.
Junior Hannah Kohls shot a 13-over 85 on Sunday and tied for 37th overall at 22-over 166.
Mustang sophomore Anna Davison shot an 11-over 83 on Sunday to place tied for 42nd overall, while sophomore Anneke Weg shot a season-low 8-over 80 today to earn a tied for 48th at 26-over 170. Freshman Sally Gallagher rounded out SMSU’s line-up carding a 15-over 87 on Sunday to finish tied for 58th at 30-over 174.
Freshmen Natalie Bohnert, playing as an individual, shot her second straight 20-over 92 to place 70th, while Sydney Noel, also playing as an individual shot a 23-over 95 today to tie for 77th at 51-over 195.
Southwest Minnesota State returns to action next Saturday and Sunday competing at the Augustana University Invite in Sioux Falls, S.D
