Lancer girls place second at Worthington Invitational

WORTHINGTON — Braelyn Merritt and the Canby/Minneota relay teams came together for a pair of event first-place finishes on Thursday night, propelling the Lancers to a runner-up finish at the Worthington girls track and field Invitational.

As a team, Canby/Minneota put together a score of 133. Luverne won the meet with 181 points while Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton rounded out the podium with 62. Murray COunty Central also placed fifth with 50 points while Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central placed eighth out of 11 teams with 36 points.

On the boys side, Luverne and Worthington ran away with the top two slots with 154.25 and 140 points respectively. Canby/Minneota placed seventh with 32 points, MCC took ninth with 20 and WWG/RRC placed 11th with 12.25.

New Ulm Invitational

NEW ULM — Aidan Swenhaugen picked up a pair of first-place finishes in sprinting events to lead the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton track team at a track and fieldmeet in New Ul on Thursday.

Swenhaugen won both the 100 meters and 200 meters while Cade Swenhaugen won the 300 hurdles. 

As a team, the TMB boys placed fourth out of six teams with 57 points while the girls placed sixth with 22 points. 

New Ulm won the boys meet with 107 points while River Valley won the girls with 117.
