Marshall girls throwers put together pair of top-5 marks in Mankato relays

MANKATO — The Marshall Tigers Track and Field team competed in the Cougar Relays in Mankato on Thursday. Marshall was without several of their athletes due to the Howard Wood meet on Friday and Saturday but still competed well and had several notable performances.  

In the 1600 meter run Avery Schneekloth placed ninth with a time of 5:46.71.  In the boys’ 1600 Keagen Anderson ran a 4:43.15 to finish eighth in a very competitive race.  

The Marshall girls 1600 sprint medley relay team of Elise Deutz, Kaya Koch, Makayli Burrell and Oakley Schneekloth finished fifth with a time of 4:44:44. Boys Throwers 4×100 relay of Jake Allex, Ty Schnaser, Cesar Guzman, Jack Meier finished in 5th in the Throwers relay.  

For the field events teams each had four athletes and their marks were combined to make the relay.  

Marshall girls’ throwers had top-five performances for both shot and discus.  For the discus, Paige and Brooke Gillingham, Olivia DeGroot and Lily Van Meveren placed fourth as a group. The girls shot relay team of Paige Gillingham, Brooke Gillingham, Adyson Fischer and Lily Van Meveren finished also finished in fourth. 

On the boys’ side, two field event groups finished in the top five.  Marshall boys pole vault team consisting of Austin Dunn, Brady Dubs, Mark Rabay and Tom Hansan finished in fourth. Boys triple jump relay team consisting of Abu Hassan, Brady Dubs, Kanon Depyper, Malachi Carrasco Storm took fifth place.  

Marshall will next compete at the Howard Wood meet in Sioux Falls, S.D. today and Saturday.
