Ritter should complete his term

To the editor:

I have just watched the Marshall Mayor candidate forum. Thank you Studio One for the coverage.

The other candidates did not give me a reason to vote Mayor Bob Byrnes out of office. They all sang the praises of Marshall and its successes. Do you suppose Mayor Byrnes had a bit to do with that over the years as councilman and mayor?

Steve Ritter once said he believed six years of public service was a good practice. Now, if elected mayor, he’s going for 22 — go figure — the “not as I do but as I say” scenario? Give me a break. Its obvious Mayor Byrnes is not on a power grab.

Another concern is Lyon County’s cost of a special election should Mr. Ritter get elected mayor. There would need to be a special election to fill his seat on the Lyon County Board of Commissioners. Perhaps it would be least costly for Lyon County taxpayers should he complete the term he was elected to serve.
