To the editor:

It was with sadness that I learned of the passing of Ed Carberry. Dr. Carberry, although not a large man, was a towering presence in the hall and chemistry classrooms of SMSU. He will be remembered for his exuberance, enthusiasm, and passion for teaching chemistry. He was an anchor in the outstanding chemistry department and his influence still affects the high standards of the chemistry program at SMSU today. I will remember him as one of the finest teachers ever, as a mentor and friend. On behalf of the hundreds of his students that he inspired to achievement and success in life, I want to offer our deepest condolences to Ed’s wife, Linda, and her family.
