Blood donation opportunities are scheduled around the area

Hurricane Dorian has forced the closure of blood donation centers and the cancellation of blood drives in its path, causing blood and platelet donations to go uncollected. When blood donations are disrupted in a region of the country, the American Red Cross is able to move blood donations where they are needed most.

The following blood donation opportunities have been scheduled: In Marshall, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Landmark Mercantile, 207 W. Main St.; Sept. 18, 1-6 p.m., Lyon County Library, 201 C St. In Vesta, Sept. 23, 1-7 p.m., Community Center, 160 Front St. E. Canby, Thursday, 1-7 p.m. Community Center, 110 Oscar Ave. N. and Friday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Community Center, 110 Oscar Ave. N. Sept. 25, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Minnesota West Community & Technical College, 1011 First St. W. In Granite Falls, Sept. 23, 1-7 p.m., Kilowatt Center, 600 Kilowatt Drive; Sept. 24, 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Yellow Medicine East High School, 450 9th Ave.; Sept. 24, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Prairies Edge Casino-Granite Falls, 5616 Prairie’s Edge Lane and Sept. 30, 2-7 p.m., The Rock: Dining and Events, 1940 11th Ave.
