MARSHALL - THIS WEEK The No. 14 ranked SMSU volleyball team, after beginning NSIC play last weekend, hosts its first games inside the PE Gym in 2026. SMSU opens play with a match on Friday against No. 10 ranked St. Cloud State at 6 p.m. The Mustangs then face Minnesota State the following day at 2 p.m. In honor of ‘Alumni Weekend’, SMSU will be hosting a ‘Gameday Round Up’ at 12 p.m. All matches are listed in central time. MCC looks to reload after historic state run

Minneota volleyball returns veteran core with high hopes

MINNEOTA — Coming off a 27-7 season in 2025-26, Minneota volleyball returns with plenty of experience and high expectations for another successful campaign. The Vikings return nine letterwinners from last season’s squad while losing just two players to graduation, giving head coach Kaley Buysse a veteran group to work with. “We have quite a few returning starters and many girls with years of experience on varsity, so I feel like that will be a strength of ours both defensively and offensively,” Buysse said. Knights roll to third sweep of season

TYLER — Entering Monday night’s matchup with Wabasso, RTR volleyball had suffered just one loss on the season, coming against Minneota. The Knights came into their home match with a 2-1 record, with both of their victories coming by way of sweeps on the road against Lakeview and TMB. RTR continued that trend Monday, rolling past Wabasso in straight sets, 25-11, 25-17, 25-20. Van Beck ties for ninth as SMSU earns seventh place at Maverick Fall Brawl

HUDSON – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team closed the final round of the 13-team Maverick Fall Brawl, hosted by Minnesota State University, shooting a 37-over-321 to finish in seventh place with a two-day score of 80-over 648. The 36-hole tournament was played at the par-71 Troy Burne Golf Club. Concordia-St. Paul won the team title with a score of 54-over 622.
