WWG earns five All-Conference selections

The Red Rock Conference announced its girls basketball All-Conference teams on Monday morning with Westbrook-Walnut Grove earning a conference-leading five selections between the 17-player first team and 11-player honorable mention list.

The conference also announced its All-Academic teams for boys and girls basketball as well as wrestling. All-Academic selections were awarded to seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher.

WWG seniors Izzy Klumper, Addeson Jenniges and Abby Wiggins each earned first-team honors. The Chargers’ three first-team selections trailed only conference and section champion Southwest Minnesota Christian’s four honorees.

Klumper scored 17.6 points per game on 38.8% from 3-point range. She also set the school record for career 3-pointers made.

Wiggins and Jenniges averaged 8.0 and 7.6 points per game respectively. Jenniges’ 88 assists on the year were also a team-high while Wiggins finished the season with 49 steals and 135 rebounds.

Riley Parker and Natalie Wahl each earned honorable mention nods for WWG. Wahl finished the season with a team-leading 55 steals while Parker’s 129 rebounds trailed only Wiggins and Leah Carter’s 181.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton also earned a pair of All-Conference selections with seniors Gabi Borresen and Ally Nelson. Borresen dished out a team-high 66 assists on the season. She also added 37 steals and 94 rebounds.

Nelson was the Knights’ leading rebounder on the year with 124 boards while also averaging 7.2 points per game. She also added 26 steals and 10 blocks on the defensive end.

RTR and Red Rock Central each had an honorable mention in Tatum Hess and Taylor Lang while Jayda Hellewell and Abby Overman each received an honorable mention nod for Murray County Central in their senior seasons.

The Red Rock Conference will announce its boys teams after Russell-Tyler-Ruthton and Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey’s seasons conclude in the Class A state tournament.
