Thor, Webskowski help Tigers to Win at Shoreland CC

BIG SOUTH GIRLS

ST. PETER — Anna Thor and Dayton Webskowski both put together top-5 rounds at Thursday’s Big South Conference girls golf meet at Shoreland Country Club in St. Peter. The Marshall Tigers rode that momentum to a first-place finish in the seven-team event.

Webskowski topped the 41-player field with a 6-over 41, beating individual runner-up Natalie Salfer of St. Peter by six strokes. Webskowski birdied her second and final holes, and also carded a pair of pars.

Thor also placed fourth in the meet with a 49, helping Marshall to a team score of 199. St. Peter took second at 204, and Worthington rounded out the podium at 218.

Maddi Panka also placed seventh for Marshall with a17-over 52 and Emry Weller rounded out the Tiger scorers in 19th at 57.

Marshall’s girls return to action on Monday with another Big South division meet at Great Life Golf and Fitness in Worthington at 2 p.m.

BIG SOUTH BOYS

MONTGOMERY — Elijah Winn and Keegan Fossum both finished in the top three of Thursday’s Big South Conference division meet at Montgomery National Golf Club, but it wasn’t enough to put the Tigers on top as Marshall finished just a stroke shy of a win in the seven-team field.

The Tigers finished with a team score of 155, one shy of St. Peter’s 154. New Ulm rounded out the podium in fourth with a 167.

Winn tied St. Peter’s Owen Matejcek as the meet’s top individual, carding a 1-over 37. Winn birdied his first hole of the day, and parred six others.

Just behind them, Keegan Fossum tied St. Peter’s Ethan Moreau for third place with a 38. Fossum logged seven pars on the round, including each of his final six holes.

Deacon Wing was in the middle of a logjam for fifth place, shooting a 3-over 39 to enter a four-way tie. Jaylen Koster was Marshall’s No. 4 scorer, shooting a 41 to place 11th.

Marshall competes again on Friday and Saturday in Lakeville South’s Dacotah Ridge Invite. The meet was still in progress at the time of writing.

RED ROCK GIRLS

SANBORN — Teigyn O’Leary and the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights edged out Murray County Central by a single stroke in Thursday’s Red Rock Conference meet No. 2. O’Leary finished first as an individual on the day, helping RTR to a team score of 374 and a first-place finish.

MCC fell just behind RTR with 375 strokes, while Red Rock Central and Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda/Westbrook-Walnut Grove placed fourth and fifth at 460 and 475.

O’Leary shot an 11-over 83 to top the 30-player field. She was particularly strong on the front nine, during which she had a stretch of six consecutive pars.

The Knights’ Leah Nordgaard and Izzy Thomas also put together top-10 rounds, tying for eighth with a 93. Thomas also recorded a par on hole 3.

Jacey Schreurs rounded out the RTR scorers in 16th with a 105.

Rachael Huso led MCC with a fourth-place finish, tying Red RRC’s Jorga Brown with a 15-over 87.

All four of MCC’s scoring players finished in the top third of the field. Natalie Einck placed sixth with a 90, and Lizzie Daniels and Brielle Plotz tied for 10th with a 99 to round out the Rebel scorers.

Ava Herding was HLOF/WWG’s top performer, shooting a 100 to place 12th.

RTR returns to action when it hosts MCC, RRC and HLOF/WWG for Red Rock Conference Meet No. 3 on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Tyler Golf Club.

RED ROCK BOYS

SLAYTON — Jayden Schreurs and Jonah Norgaard tied for seventh place for the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton boys golf team in Thursday’s Red Rock Conference meet, leading the Knights to a third-place finish out of eight teams.

RTR finished with a team score of 360, trailing only Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton’s 353 and Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey’s 357. Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda/Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Murray County Central also placed fifth and sixth, with 370 and 381 strokes, respectively, while Red Rock Central placed seventh at 412.

Schreurs and Norgaard each shot a 19-over 89, highlighted by five pars for Schreurs and six for Norgaard.

Brice Roelofs also placed 10th in the field of 46 for the Knights with a 90 while Colten Thomsen rounded out the team’s scorers in 17th with a 92.

Kaden Landsman was the top area individual in the meet, placing third for MCC with a 15-over 85. The Rebels also had Jett Veldhuisen in 13th with a 91.

Red Rock Central’s Max Erickson and HLOF/WWG’s Neil Kuehl led their respective schools in a tie for 10th at 20-over 90.

The Red Rock Conference boys return to the links on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with a meet hosted by RTR at Tyler Golf Club.

CAMDEN SOUTH BOYS

RENVILLE — Jase Sorensen, Owen Dalager and Blayze Hulzebos each finished in the top three of Thursday’s Camden South Boys golf meet for Minneota, helping the Vikings run away with a first-place team finish at the event.

Sorensen and Dalager took the top two spots in the meet while Hulzebos tied Canby’s Daven VanEngen for third. As a team, Minneota tallied 163 strokes to beat out Canby’s 184 and Lakeview’s 188.

Yellow Medicine East and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton also clocked in with a 190 and 210, placing fourth and fifth respectively.

Sorensen topped the 31-player field with a 2-over 38, aided by six consecutive pars to start his round. Dalager shot a 4-over 40 behind six pars, while Hulzebos shot a 5-over 41.

Randy Sorensen rounded out the Viking scorers in sixth with 44 strokes.

Canby also had three top-10 finishers in the meet. In addition to VanEngen, Isaac Bollerud placed seventh with a 45 and Lane Citrowske placed ninth with a 46. Jaxson Ramberg and Andrew Bach rounded out the Lancer scorers in 24th, tied with 52 strokes each.

YME senior Cooper McCosh led the Sting by carding a 42 to place fifth.

Eighth graders Ledgen Javens of Lakeview and Charles Xiong of Tracy-Milroy-Balaton led their respective teams, Javens carding a 45 to tie for seventh and Xiong a 48 to tie for 13th.

YME is slated to host the next Camden South meet at Granite Run Golf Course on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

CAMDEN SOUTH GIRLS

RENVILLE — Lauren Boe finished as the individual runner-up for the Lakeview girls golf team at Thursday’s Camden South meet, helping the Lakers to a first-place team finish.

Boe shot a 10-over 46 on the day, trailing only Canby’s Maddison Richter’s 43. The Lakers also had Nora Forslund in a tie with Tracy-Milroy-Balaton’s Taylor Munson for third with a 52 and jayla Post in a tie with Minneota’s Ava Panka for fifth with a 54.

Lakeview compiled a team score of 208, beating out Canby’s 218 and Minneota’s 238. TMB did not field a team score.

Jersey Stensrud was the Lakers’ No. 2 scorer in eighth place with a 56.

In addition to Richter, Canby’s Gracie Mamer and Jayda Namken placed seventh and ninth with a 55 and 59, respectively. Karli Weber was the final scorer for Canby in 11th with a 61.

The Camden South girls golf teams return to action on Monday with a meet at Granite Run Golf Course at 4:30 p.m.
