WABASSO — Avery Carlson’s pitching was too much for the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton softball team to handle Thursday afternoon as the Wabasso Rabbits took down the Panthers 8-0.
Carlson went the distance for the shutout. She had six strikeouts while allowing just five base-runners, including four singles and a double from Jordyn Hanson.
On offense, plenty of Rabbits had an opportunity to eat at the dish. Kelsey Frank hit a triple to lead off the third inning before scoring on a passed and Sophia Hanna doubled to lead off the first before also scoring on a passed ball. Kylee Fogelson also hit a two-run double in the fifth inning to put the Rabbits up 8-0.
Kamryn Petersen pitched for the Panthers. She went all six innings, allowing five earned runs on five hits and seven walks.
Wabasso (11-6) host another softball invitational today at 4 p.m. following the second game of Thursday’s tournament in which they will play Lac qui Parle Valley.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (9-7) will host Murray County Central today at 4 p.m.
