COTTONWOOD — The MACCRAY baseball team had 10 stolen bases and a four-hit advantage that was ultimately too much for Lakeview to overcome in a 14-3 loss Thursday night in six innings.
The Wolverines put the dagger on the win behind a six-run fourth inning, and scored in every frame except one to continue pulling away with a lead.
Lakeview and MACCRAY had a competitive start through the first three innings after the Lakers cut into a 4-1 deficit with a run from Teagan Neuman in the bottom of the third. Logan Herrick drove him in with an RBI double on a hard line drive to center field.
Yet, MACCRAY had its fourth-inning rally to build a 10-1 advantage and topped the game off with another three runs in the sixth to end the game an inning early in mercy rule.
Lakeview brought in two runs in the fifth inning, attempting to find some momentum and get back into the fight.

Both Braylon Breyfogle and Herrick scored on the same play behind a Landyn Listul RBI single off a line drive out to left field.
Lakeview got the final at-bat in the bottom of the sixth, needing to score at least two runs to prevent the run-rule.
But, MACCRAY held off the comeback attempt with three quick outs with two fly ball catches and an infield ground-out to end the game.
The Wolverines finished with 11 hits and two errors, while Lakeview struggled with five errors and collected seven hits.
Neuman and Herrick led the Lakers offensively, both going 2 of 3 at the plate. Listul had a team-high two RBIs.

Chase Vogel got the start for the Lakers on the mound, pitching the first 3 2/3 innings. He tossed a team-high four strikeouts, and allowed four walks, two earned runs and four hits. Herrick, Breyfogle and Jackson Forslund stepped in throughout the rest of the game.
Lakeview moves to an 0-3 start to the season, and will look to get in the win column when it travels to Yellow Medicine East on Monday with a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
