Marshall remains undefeated with win over Jordan
JORDAN — The Marshall Tigers’ defense stifled Jordan in their football game Friday night in which the Tigers took a 14-6 road win to remain undefeated on the season.
For the fourth time this season, the Tigers defense did not allow a touchdown. Jordan’s points came on field goals in the first and third quarters.
Jordan out-gained the Tigers, throwing for 135 and rushing for 85, but the Marshall defense’s ability to make plays stifled any chance of finding the end zone. The Marshall secondary was able to make a pair of interceptions, courtesy of Tyler Maeyaert and Jett Wing.
Like Jordan, Marshall also scored all of their points in the first half. Chidi Nwakama continued his hot streak by giving Marshall an early lead with a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, while Mason Eickhoff gave some insurance for the Tigers by finding the end zone in the second quarter. Nwakama finished the game with 87 rushing yards, while Eickhoff finished with 27 yards on the ground and another 27 receiving yards.
Passing was a struggle again, as the Tigers were only able to acrue 32 yards in the air, but they played with the lead the entire game and running down the clock was more to their advantage.
The Marshall Tigers (7-0) will look to complete their perfect regular season on their home turf Wednesday, when they host Belle Plaine at 7 p.m.
