Glasgow earns his first victory as Mustangs top Bulldogs

By SMSU Athletic Communications

MARSHALL.- The Southwest Minnesota State women’s soccer team (1-3-5 overall, 1-3-2 NSIC) ended its weekend on a high note, defeating Minnesota Duluth (3-4-2, 2-2-2) 2-0 at the Schwan Regional Event Center on Saturday afternoon.

It was the first win in the Mustang career of Clay Glasgow.

SMSU opened the scoring in the 29th minute, when a long pass from Ciarra Valdez snuck past the Duluth backline, eventually getting to the foot of Alex Lotts. Lotts would take it from there, putting the ball to the back of the net to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.

Kirsten Wetterstrom doubled the lead in the 56th minute, taking a pass from her sister, Erin Wetterstrom, to the left post before finishing over a diving goalkeeper, bringing the game to its final score.

Rachel Hicks recorded her third clean sheet as a Mustang, making three saves and facing seven shots en route to the victory.

Southwest Minnesota State travels to Wayne, Neb. for a match-up with the Wayne State Wildcats at 2 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 30.

Starting at $3.95/week.
