PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall boys, girls golf split dual against Fairmont

BUFFALO LAKE — The Marshall boys and girls golf teams competed against Fairmont in a dual on Friday, with the boys team winning 333-342 and the girls team falling 358-393.

On the boys side, for Marshall, Luke Ehlers led with a 73 to earn medalist honors while Evan Franson had an 82 to take third, Jayden Manthei had an 88 to take seventh, Joey Fossum had a 90 to tie for eighth, Zach Kramer and Sam Schwarz each had a 92 to tie for 11th and Tyler Welsh had a 97 to take 14th.

On the girls side, for Marshall, Grace Ehlers led with a 95 to take fourth while Brooklyn Gossen had a 97 to take sixth, Dayton Webskowski had a 100 to take seventh, Eryn Kraft had a 101 to take eighth, Taylor Miller had a 103 to take 10th and Jaryn Hilgemann had a 106 to take 11th.

The Marshall boys and girls teams will compete next on Monday at home against Pipestone Area at 4:15 p.m.

Track and field

TMB Invite

TRACY — Multiple area track and field teams competed in the TMB Invite on Thursday. On the boys side, Lakeview took first with a team score of 105, followed by Canby/Minneota in second (100), Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in third (98), Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd in fourth (86), Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in seventh (36) and Yellow Medicine East in eighth (31). On the girls side, Canby/Minneota took first with a 174, followed by TMB in fourth (68), LQPV/DB in fifth (63), Lakeview in sixth (53), RTR in seventh (34) and YME in eighth (24).

Boys

Lakeview

In the 100 meters, Greg Schafer took first with a time of 11.10 seconds while Nathan Fenske took seventh (12.15 seconds). In the 200 meters, Schafer took first with a time of 23.10 seconds while Koltin Mulder took second (23.92 seconds) and Ethan Staab took fifth (24.48 seconds). In the 800 meters, Cole Remiger took 15th with a time of 2:33.96. In the 1600 meters, Ethan Schwankl took first with a time of 4:51.19 while Remiger took 12th (5:50.98). In the 3200 meters, Schwankl took first with a time of 10:41.55.

In the 110 meter hurdles, Staab took third with a time of 17.73 seconds while Austin Pringle took fourth (18.96). In the 300 meter hurdles, Staab took first with a time of 43.07 seconds while Mulder took third (44.23 seconds). In the 4×100 meter relay, the team of Fenske, Greg Schafer, Pringle and Garrett Schafer took second with a time of 46.40 seconds. In the 4×200 meter relay, the team of Garrett Schafer, Tyden Marczak, Mason Luepke and Pringle took seventh with a time of 1:45.54. In the 4×400 meter relay, the team of Ian Taylor, Garrett Schafer, Marczak and Luepke took fifth with a time of 4:03.76. In the 4×800 meter relay, the team of Luepke, Marczak, Taylor and Keoki Sa took sixth with a time of 10:53.98.

In the shot put, Kyran Neuman took sixth with a throw of 41-0. In the discus, Neuman took third with a throw of 127-8 while Nikolas Hartke took 18th with a throw of 63-10. In the high jump, Fenske took third with a height of 6-1. In the pole vault, Hartke took fifth with a height of 8-6 while Remiger took eighth (7-6). In the 100 meters, Dylan Houseman took eighth with a time of 12.33 seconds while Isaac Guza took ninth (12.35 seconds) and Cayden Anderson took 13th (13.01 seconds). In the 200 meters, Michael Tol took 10th with a time of 25.30 seconds while Guza took 12th (25.48 seconds). In the 400 meters, Trevor Gray took second with a time of 54.07 seconds while AJ Josephson took eighth (59.11). In the 800 meters, Blake Stoks took first with a time of 2:06.90 while Zach Ourada took second (2:09.11). In the 800 meters, Nick Ankrum took third with a time of 2:16.93 while Carter Sweetman took 12th (2:28.12). In the 110 meter hurdles, Julius Williams took first with a time of 16.54 seconds. In the 300 meter hurdles, Cade Swenhaugen took seventh with a time of 48.59 seconds and Crumrine took ninth (49.91 seconds).

In the 4×100 meter relay, the team of Ayden Horner, Jake Turner, Christian Wendland and Noah Swenhaugen took first with a time of 45.15 seconds. CLARA CITY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton softball team split a doubleheader against MACCRAY on Thursday, falling in game one 12-8 and winning game two 16-6 in five innings. 

In game one, Margaret Dolan and Camille Dolan led TMB with two hits and two RBIs each while Kamryn Petersen and Grace Dolan each added two hits. Margaret Dolan took the loss in the circle, going seven innings while allowing 12 runs on 12 hits and struck out four.

In game two, Amber Hensch led TMB with four hits and three RBIs while Grace Dolan added two hits and four RBIs and Margaret Dolan had two hits and two RBIs. Petersen earned the win in the circle, going five innings while allowing six runs on six hits and struck out four.

Wabasso 2 (6 innings)

WABASSO — The Wabasso baseball team fell to Springfield 14-2 in six innings on Thursday evening.

Wabasso first baseman Joe Liebl led the team with two hits while second baseman Chase Irlbeck had a hit and recorded the lone RBI for the team. Adryen Tietz took the loss on the mound, going three innings while allowing eight runs on 13 hits and struck out two.

Hitting: Wabasso (Irlbeck 1-3; Anderson 1-3; Tietz 1-3; Liebl 2-3; Goblish 1-3; Hanna 1-2).
