PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall baseball gets tripped up by New Ulm

NEW ULM — The Marshall baseball team fell to New Ulm 4-3 on Tuesday. Marshall held a 3-0 lead after three innings, but the Eagles scored three in the bottom of the fourth before getting the walk-off base hit in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win.

Brock Schultz led Marshall with two hits while Jack Bly added a hit and an RBI and Jaden Pearcy and Josh Baker each had a hit.

Mitchell Bouwman took the loss in relief, going 3 1/3 innings while allowing one run on two hits and struck out two. Bly earned the start, going 3 1/3 innings while giving up three runs on four hits and struck out four.

Marshall (9-3) will face Pipestone Area on the road on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

RRC/WWG 11,

MLA/Comfrey 1

LAMBERTON — The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove baseball team defeated Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey 11-1 in six innings on Tuesday.

Cole VanDeWiele led RRC/WWG with two hits and an RBI while Mason Irlbeck and Luke Willhite each added a hit and an RBI. Irlbeck also earned the win on the mound, going three innings while allowing no runs on two hits and struck out four.

RRC/WWG (8-4) will face Edgerton/SWC on the road on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

RTR 17, DB 1 (5 innings)

DAWSON — The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton baseball team defeated Dawson-Boyd 17-1 in five innings on Tuesday.

Aiden Wichmann led RTR with three hits and two RBI while Cody Wichmann added two hits and three RBI and Drew Werkman, Blake Christianson and Sam Nibbe each had a hit and combined for four RBI.

Cody Wichmann got the win on the mound, going four innings while allowing one run on one hit and struck out eight.

No DB stats were available at press time.

RTR (8-3) will face Canby on the road on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. while DB (1-6) will face Central Minnesota Christian on the road on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

MACCRAY 4, YME 3

(13 innings)

GRANITE FALLS — The Yellow Medicine East baseball team fell to MACCRAY 4-3 in 13 innings on Tuesday.

Caleb Jans led YME with four hits and an RBI while Hunter Wilke added three hits. Nikson Knapper took the loss in relief, going seven innings while allowing one run and struck out nine. Jans earned the start, going six innings while allowing three runs on four hits and struck out four.

YME (10-3) will face KMS on the road on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Minneota/Canby 11, MACCRAY 3

MACCRAY 4

CLARA CITY — The Minneota/Canby softball team earned a pair of victories on Tuesday, defeating MACCRAY 11-3 in game one and 5-4 in game two.

In game one, Summer Hennen led Minneota/Canby with two hits and two RBI while Abby Hennen added two hits, including a home run, and an RBI, Lexi Sanow had two hits and Abby Rost, Ashlee Cole and Audra Buysse each had a hit and an RBI. Ava Larson earned the win in the circle, going seven innings while allowing three runs on five hits and struck out six.

In game two, Abby Hennen led Minneota/Canby with three hits, including another home run, and two RBI while Cole and Buysse each had a hit and an RBI and Faith Myhre, Larson and Sanow each had a hit. Madison Hennen earned the win in the circle, going 4 1/3 innings while allowing two runs on three hits and struck out one.

Minneota/Canby (8-7) will face Lakeview on the road next Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Monday

Prep softball

TMB 22, DB 1 (5 innings)

TMB 23, DB 0 (4 innings)

DAWSON — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton softball team earned a pair of victories on Monday, defeating Dawson-Boyd 22-1 in five innings in game one and 23-0 in four innings in game two.

In game one, for TMB, Camille Dolan led with four hits and two RBI while Kiarra Danielson added three hits, Haily Gernentz had two hits and four RBI, Kamryn Petersen had two hits and two RBI and Mady Swan had two hits and an RBI. Swan earned the win in the circle, going five innings while allowing one run on two hits and struck out eight.

In game two, Margaret Dolan and Danielson led with three hits each and combined for seven RBI while Swan added two hits and two RBI and Petersen had two hits and an RBI. Jadyn Lessman earned the win in the circle, going four innings while allowing just four hits and struck out three.

No Dawson-Boyd stats were available at press time.

TMB (11-2) will face MCC at home on Friday at 4:30 p.m. while DB (2-15) will face RTR on the road on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
