NEW ULM — The Wabasso baseball team defeated New Ulm Cathedral 10-5 in seven innings on Monday.

Will Carlson led Wabasso with a 2 for 4 day at the plate with two RBI while Carter Benz added a hit and two RBI and Matt Evink had a hit and an RBI.

Benz earned the victory on the mound, going three innings while allowing three runs on three hits and struck out four. Ty Altermatt threw four innings of relief, allowing two runs on three hits and struck out seven.

Wabasso (1-0) will face Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on the road on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Pipestone Area 9, TMB 5

TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton baseball team fell to Pipestone Area 9-5 on Monday.

Nathan Fultz and Andrew LaVoy led TMB with two hits apiece while Nick Schmitt added a three-run homer.

Jayden Torgeson took the loss on the mound, going 2 1/3 innings while allowing four runs on three hits and struck out four.

TMB (0-1) will face MACCRAY today in Milroy at 4:30 p.m.

Softball

NUC 9, Wabasso 4

WABASSO — The Wabasso softball team fell to New Ulm Cathedral 9-4 on Monday.

Sarah Franta led Wabasso with two hits while Madeline Hanna added two hits and Avery Carlson, Kelsey Frank, Sophia Hanna and Kelsey Fischer each had a hit.

Franta also took the loss in the circle.

Wabasso (3-1) will host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Thursday at 5 p.m.
