SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: SMSU’s Blain Dilly places 10th in heptathlon

MANKATO — The first two sessions of the 2021 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships are complete as the men’s heptathlon wrapped-up Friday morning inside Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, this year’s full championship will be a one-day event for the men on Friday, while the women’s championship will be held today.

SMSU’s Blain Dilly competed in the heptathlon on Thursday and Friday and finished in 10th place overall with 3,661 points. On Thursday, he placed 10th in the 60-meter dash at 7.62, finished ninth in the long jump at 5.84m, tied for ninth in the shot put with a mark of 8.24m and earned a ninth-place finish in the high jump at 1.64m. In Friday’s action, Dilly ran 9.46 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish ninth, cleared 3.0m in the pole vault to finish in eighth and ran 3:11.93 in the 1000 meters for ninth place.
