Dufault named All-NSIC South honorable mention
BURNSVILLE — The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced on Wednesday morning Southwest Minnesota State University senior men’s basketball player Nick Dufault has been named All-NSIC South Division honorable mention as selected by the division’s eight head coaches.
A 5-foot-11, guard from Waseca, Dufault led SMSU in scoring this season averaging 13 points per game and led the team with 27 3-pointers in 11 games. He shot 40 percent (48 of 120) from the field and was a perfect 20 of 20 from the free throw line. He scored double figures in eight games, including a season-high 22 with six 3-pointers in a win over Minot State on Jan. 8.
In his four-year career, Dufault scored 886 points with 175 3-pointers, 89 assists and 54 assists in 104 games. He closes his career ranking seventh in team history shooting 41.3 percent (175 of 424) from 3-point range and ranks eighth in 3-point field goals made. Dufault scored a career-high 28 points versus Minnesota Duluth on Dec. 14, 2019, and made a career-high seven 3-pointers at Bemidji State on Feb. 1, 2020.
Dufault is a 2016 graduate of Waseca High School.
Southwest Minnesota State finished the abbreviated 2020-21 season with a 3-8 overall record, including 1-6 in NSIC South games. The Mustangs had five games canceled during the season due to COVID protocols.
