PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall boys hockey falls to LDC 2-1

LITCHFIELD — The Marshall boys hockey team fell to Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato 2-1 on Saturday.

After a scoreless first period, the Dragons got on the board with a goal in the first 30 seconds to begin the second frame. Later on in the same period, Marshall tied things up at 1-1 when Tristan VanDeVere found the back of the net on the assist from Kaleb Welvaert. But LDC quickly struck again in the third, scoring 49 seconds into the frame to take a 2-1 lead and ultimately earn the win.

Marshall outshot LDC 38-37 on the game. Dominik Caspers earned 35 saves in net for the Tigers.

Marshall will face Willmar on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Blake Schmitz led the way for MCC with eight points while Tyler Winter added five and Brayden Ahlers and Chant Mitchell had four each. Kyler Deacon led in rebounds with six while Colton Mitchell led in assists with one.

MCC will face Adrian/Ellsworth on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Isaac Kronback led the way for the Rabbits with 32 points while Will Carlson added 23, Colby Wall had 19 and Mason Dallenbach had 16. Wall led in rebounds with 10 while Dallenbach, Wall and Kronback led in assists with three each.

Wabasso will face Canby today at 7:15 p.m.

Will Varcoe led the way for the Lancers with 28 points while Nate Prokop added nine and Tyler Sayre and Evan Weber each had five. Varcoe led in rebounds with 11 while Sayre led in assists with five.

Aaron Loe led the way for the Lakers with 18 points while Carter Louwagie added 15, Parker Hoffman had 14 and Colby Marczak had 11. Billy Errington led in rebounds with 14 while Marczak led in assists with five.

Zach Durfee and Romell Horton led the way for Dawson-Boyd with 19 points each while Micah Olson added 11 and Gauge Liebl had nine. Durfee led in rebounds with six while Horton led in assists with three.

Lakeview will face KMS on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. while Dawson-Boyd will face TMB on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

BROWERVILLE — The Minneota wrestling team dropped a pair of duals on Friday at the LPGE-Browerville meet. Minneota fell to LPGE-Browerville 50-21 and West Central Area-Ashby-Brandon-Evansville 38-31.

Against LPGE-Browerville, Eric Carrasco, Blake Reiss and Hudson Scholten won by a pin while Jonah Gruenes won by decision to lead the way for Minneota.

Against WCA-Ashby-Brandon-Evansville, Carrasco, Kade Lozinski, Reiss and Jayden Gamrak won by a pin while Zack Fier won by major decision and Jackson Esping won by decision to lead the way for Minneota.

Minneota will compete on Tuesday against United and Worthington at 5 p.m.

Tracy duals

TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove wrestling team went 2-1 at its home duals on Friday. TMB/WWG defeated Worthington 38-33 and Willmar 49-24 and fell to Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato 45-17.

Against Worthington, Levi Ellingson, Sawyer Schwartz and Trevor Eisfeld won by a pin while Ayden Horner and Jace Paplow won by major decision, Jeret Ankrum won by forfeit and Noah Ortiz and Caden Johnson won by decision to lead the way for TMB/WWG.

Against Willmar, Horner, Ellingson, Blaine Petersen, Schwartz and Travis Willhitte won by a pin while Gabe Krick won by forfeit, Paplow won by injury default, Eisfeld won by major decision and Johnson won by decision to lead the way for TMB/WWG.

Against Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield, Krick won by a pin while Horner and Eisfeld won by major decision and Paplow won by decision to lead the way for TMB/WWG.

TMB/WWG will compete in a quadrangular on Thursday at 5 p.m.
