SMSU GOLF: SMSU begins fall practice on Monday

MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team opens practice this upcoming Monday in preparation for the 2019 fall season.

SMSU head coach Ross Webskowski-entering his 16th season-returns three letter winners, including one junior and two sophomores and will welcome four true freshmen to the roster.

The Mustangs will compete in five events this fall including hosting the 22nd annual Ramada Mustang Invite on Sept. 21-22 at the Marshall Golf Club.

Junior Hannah Kohls is the team’s top returning letter winner after finishing first last season with an 82.7 stroke average in 19 rounds including one top 10 finish. Kohls finished with a 37-over 253 to finish tied for 19th at last spring’s NSIC Championships. Her 83.3 career stroke average ranks sixth in team history. Sophomore Anna Davison returns after ranking fourth on the squad a season ago with an 88.5 average 17 rounds while sophomore Anneke Weg also returns after averaging 90.7 in 19 rounds last season.

During his 15 seasons as head coach, Webskowksi has led SMSU to a pair of NSIC championships and six NCAA region tournaments.

SMSU opens the 2019 fall season on Sept. 9-10 at the Bemidji State Tournament at Bemidji Town and Country Club.
