BURNSVILLE – Southwest Minnesota State’s Caleigh Rodning earned NSIC South Division Player of the Week honors announced on Monday afternoon. This is the first time Rodning has received this award and the first Mustang to earn the award under head coach Tom Webb.

Rodning, a native of Shakopee and a 2016 graduate of Shakopee High School, totaled 51 points in SMSU’s back-to-back victories hosting Wisconsin-Parkside (91-83) and William Jewell (90-67) in its inaugural Ramada Classic.

In the two victories, Rodning recorded back-to-back double-doubles with 34 points and 16 rebounds against Wisconsin-Parkside, followed by 17 points and 10 rebounds against William Jewell. Rodning shot 59 percent from the field (16 of 27), 67 percent from beyond the arc (6 of 9), and went 13 of 15 from the free-throw line throughout the weekend.

SMSU went 2-0 this weekend after defeating Wisconsin-Parkside (91-83) and William Jewell (90-67) in which SMSU set a new team-record 19 3-pointers in a game.

Rodning ranks sixth in rebounding average with 7.8 and fourth in free throw percentage with .830 in the all-time school record.
