SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: Mustangs compete at SDSU D2 Invite over the weekend
BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s and men’s indoor track & field teams finished a busy Friday with a handful of high finishes at the South Dakota State D2 Invite.
Bashir Aidrus broke the school record in the 3,000 meters with a second place finish out of 32 runners with a time 8:47.74. Chase Hamilton crossed the finish line in sixth place in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:40.80.
Isaiah Nelson had a strong fifth place finish out of 21 competitors in the triple jump with a distance of 13.55m.
Kim Shabino finished fourth in the 200 meters crossing the line at 25.31, while Angela Prokosch placed seventh out of 54 in the weight throw with a toss of 15.83m.
Emily Gillingham recorded a 10th place finish in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:23.68.
Southwest Minnesota State returns to the track on Saturday at the Wisconsin-River Falls Classic.
