MARSHALL – The Marshall girls basketball team used a 14-point halftime lead to its advantage, as the Tigers defeated Jackson County Central 68-43 on Tuesday.

Jordyn Hilgemann led the way for the Tigers with 23 points while Kaia Sueker added 22, including connecting on six 3-pointers, and Emily Meier and Natalee Sample each had six.

Hilgemann, Hannah Meier and Paige Andries all led in rebounds with five apiece while Hilgemann led in assists with six.

Marshall coach Dan Westby said he was pleased with his team’s ability to spread around the offensive wealth throughout the game.

“Our kids did a nice job of spreading things out on offense and finding the open teammate,” Westby said. “And then having Kaia and Jordyn be able to knock down some outside shots was the difference maker for us.”

Marshall (12-3) extends its winning streak to six games and will face Windom Area on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
