PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall boys basketball speeds past Windom Area

WINDOM — Marshall defeated Windom Area 69-53 on Thursday.

Trey Lance paced the Marshall offense with 21 points and five rebounds.

Matt Onken added 14points in the win.

With the win, Marshall (11-3) remains perfect in Big South action. The Tigers will host Waseca on Saturday.

Hannah Meier finished with a balanced statline of eight points, five rebounds and five assists.

Emily Meier and Lenei Estrada added seven points apiece in the win.

Marshall (13-3) will host Waseca on Saturday in a Section 2AAA battle.

The Lancers got major contributions from Norah King, who led the team in points (20) and rebounds (12).

Alyssa Beckius added 14 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists in the win.

Canby (5-9) travels to Southwest Minnesota Christian on Friday.

MINNEOTA — Minneota defeated Canby 36-24 in a dual on Thursday.

Each team recorded two pins in the match.

Blake Reiss took down Brandon Moeller in the first period at 132. At 152, it was Kyle Banks pinning Alex Full in the first period.

Canby got its first pin at 195, as Evan Stoks took down Barry Gronke in the second period of their bout.

In the 220 bout, Denver Noyes pinned Jackson Esping for the second pin bythe Lancers.

Minneota clinched the win in the 195 bout, when Shawn Buysse earned a 3-2 decision over Derek Werner to give the Vikings a 34-20 lead with just two matches left.

Brant Buysse (126) recorded Minneota’s lone pin in the victory, while the Bobcats got pins from Luke Wagner (145) and Isaac Schmiesing (220).
