We need people like Sanow in leadership

To the editor: I’d like to offer a brief word of commendation in favor of my friend and colleague, Charlie Sanow, as he seeks to renew his position as County Commissioner for District 1. I’ve known Charlie for over 20 years now, and in all that time he hasn’t changed in terms of the core of his character, which I have always found to be honest, friendly, knowledgeable, and resourceful about so many practical subjects. To the editor: In the quest for total autonomy women are granted soul authority as a matter of her choice. Many men are yielding to her choice from a station of silence as to when life begins if it should at all. Lacking complementary understanding man no longer sees life within woman, but rather a choice in which he will not speak to. To the editor: We have a major problem in America, and it is the excessive concentration of economic power and control held by major corporations. Whether that’s Monsanto, Cargill, or JBS (and others) in agriculture, or JP Morgan/Chase and Wells Fargo (and others) in finance, or the corporate-backed mega-farms that continue to expand around us. Their extreme level of market control impacts prices and even simple access to markets, land and credit. To the editor: In all the elected positions we will be filling this November, the qualifications of each candidate need to be carefully considered. If the candidate previously served, what does that record show. Ask people that know them or pay attention to more than arrow self-interest. Need Walker on Marshall school board

To the editor: Ben Walker is running for a seat on the local school board. He is an engaged Marshall citizen who wants to help MPS thrive. Marshall deserves strong advocates for our school district and he fits the bill because: Three of his kids are in our schools, so he has a vested interest in the success of students and staff of MPS. Before his current job as a teacher at SMSU, he taught high school and he understands the challenges educators face. Being involved and giving back is important to him. To the editor: As proud parents of four Marshall graduates, we’re grateful for the work Marshall Public Schools does for students. Strong schools make strong communities - which is why protecting opportunities for students to excel is so important. Come Nov. 8, voters in Marshall Public School District will decide whether to approve an operating levy of $675 per pupil to stabilize the district’s finances and protect educational programs, staff levels and student services.
