‘Real’ Minnesota flag still available online

To the editor: On March 12, there was a meeting at the Lyon Co Library to discuss the new design of the Minnesota State Flag. It is sort of ironic how fast the DFL dominated House and Senate was able to pass the less than popular flag design with the help of an unelected panel. Contrary to what was said, history is being erased. The new seal of Minnesota has no reference to when we were admitted to the union with the explanation that everyone knows the year. I challenge a question at random to people on the street as to when this happened and most will not be able to guess within ...

Public Forum

‘Bewildered’ by letter To the editor: After reading Mr. Roger Bauman’s letter in last Tuesday’s paper, I was bewildered. Bewildered, because he referred to President Biden’s State of Union address as a “pack of lies.” I don’t think Mr. Bauman saw and heard the same speech as I did. Full of lies? I heard a list of accomplishments, including the popular bi-partisan infrastructure bill, a growing economy with 15 million new jobs created, climate legislation, and lowered drug prices. I did not see and hear a “worn out shell . . . , “ but rather, I saw a vital, ...

Get involved in upcoming general election

To the editor: This country went from an abundance of energy at low prices, a strong military, a more peaceful world, a secure border, more prosperity for all regardless of status or race, lower taxes, more secure in our financial future, no inflation to the near complete chaos of today. Everything we experienced and enjoyed just a little over three years ago is gone. An old worn out shell of a politician spent over an hour lying to the American people at what was supposed to be State of the Nation and turned it into a cheap political campaign pack of lies. After seeing what this ...

Biden unites, Trump divides

To the editor: The contrast between the two leading Presidential candidates was on full display during their recent visits to the southern border. In his speech, President Biden described H.R. 2, the recently blocked border security bill. He invited former President Trump to join him in a bipartisan effort to enhance border security by backing H.R. 2. Republican Sen. (James) Lankford, a border hawk, was largely responsible for crafting H.R. 2. The bill was initially supported by the border patrol union and by the Republican leadership in the Senate until Trump ordered Republicans ...

Biden doesn’t have stamina for 2nd term

To the editor: Polls show 50% of Democrats want Biden to retire. Most Americans know he doesn’t have the stamina or mental acuity needed to be President. The recent DOJ, “Hur Report”, gave Biden a pass for willfully breaking the law because they felt they could not convict “this elderly man with a poor memory who didn’t remember when he was Vice-President.” Here are some of Biden’s failed policies. The day Biden took office, he ordered a pause in all deportations for 100 days. This is the reason 9 million unvetted people have illegally entered America. 13 American ...

Immigration softens economic blow

To the editor: No one wants to work? My retired friends and I don’t want to work either. We don’t want to see inflation, Social Security benefits cut, or the retirement age raised. The fertility rate in the United States is 1.664, which is far below the level of population replacement level of 2.1, and it is dropping. Even now, there are less of workers entering the job market than retire. There are more job openings then people to fill them. United States needs an influx of young workers to mitigate our losses for the foreseeable future. Immigration softens the economic blow ...
