Contrasts of Easter morning messages eye-opening

Contrasts in Easter morning messages eye-opening To the Editor: On Easter Sunday this year, two men wrote letters to the country that I don’t think were heard. The contrast is eye-opening; they tell us the truth about their personalities and priorities. One man sat at home that Easter morning and sent a message to the country on social media in all caps he wrote. “Happy Easter to all, including crooked, corrupt prosecutors and judges that are doing everything possible to interfere with the presidential election of 2024, and put me in prison, including those many people ...

Biden proves his leadership every day

To the editor: Are we better off than we were four years ago? The answer to that question is an unequivocal yes. About four years ago a national emergency was declared because of COVID-19. Our president at the time lied to us about it. He praised China’s response. He knew the virus was airborne and deadly, and instead of informing the us about it, he lied. He suggested people inject bleach. Please, don’t do this. It will kill you. Some people like to point to gas prices four years ago as a sign “Democrats are destroying the country.” In reality, we all know people weren’t ...

Be careful with your vote

To the editor: In my opinion a vote for Donald Trump is a vote for Putin’s Russia, Kim Jong Un’s North Korea, and all other dictatorships. Be very careful. Think. Trump has threatened a bloodbath if he is not elected this time around. He is saying that if the American people, by popular vote and electoral vote, choose any candidate other than him, he will provoke a revolution likely to bring on a civil war. A vote for Donald Trump would not be just a vote against President Joe Biden’s Democratic Party but a vote against the United States of America. Lorna Rafness Marshall

Democrats need to stop the insanity

To the editor: The U.S. senate rejected a bill (April 10) that would prohibit men from participating in women’s sports. Not surprising, all the Democrats voted against it including our two esteemed women senators; Klobachur and Smith. If you have tried to email either of them you will get a canned response telling you they are humbled to represent us. This is an outright lie because if they were, they would see the injustice being committed against girls who are forced to share locker rooms and showers with men claiming to be women. If they would have had any common sense instead ...

Dr. Carberry’s influence continues in SMSU chemistry classrooms

To the editor: It was with sadness that I learned of the passing of Ed Carberry. Dr. Carberry, although not a large man, was a towering presence in the hall and chemistry classrooms of SMSU. He will be remembered for his exuberance, enthusiasm, and passion for teaching chemistry. He was an anchor in the outstanding chemistry department and his influence still affects the high standards of the chemistry program at SMSU today. I will remember him as one of the finest teachers ever, as a mentor and friend. On behalf of the hundreds of his students that he inspired to achievement and ...

Why the apathetic attitude over abortion?

To the editor: Its been 51 years since Roe v Wade, and I am still amazed at the blasé / ‘apathetic attitude’ our society places on this carnage. There are probably several reasons for this attitude; primary of course is that we don’t take God seriously. Another would be that we don’t actually watch an actual abortion. Mandatory viewing of Dr. Bernard Nathanson’s ‘Eclipse of Reason’ which shows a little boy being summarily dismembered, would probably change many minds over this issue. Another ‘action neutralizer’ comes from leaders who preach that we have to ...
