Republicans minimize actions of a deranged man

To the editor:

Last week’s episode of “60 Minutes” was a stark reminder of the fact that our last election was on the verge of being overturned by completely illegal means leaving Donald Trump in office. For those who characterize this particular network or show as “fake news”, they are obviously grasping for straws for an explanation.

Many of those who try to explain all of these kinds of activities as “legal avenues through the courts” are not dissuaded by this sort of thing, and we are more than a little fortunate that there are a select few individuals whose conscience has finally kicked in to rescue our system as it exists.

Meanwhile, our former wannabe dictator has resorted to selling overpriced gaudy sneakers in order to fund his corrupt behavior.

In a recent letter to the editor, Mr. Coulter, a longtime acquaintance, accused me of having “Trump derangement syndrome”. To this I can only reply that I’m fully aware that Trump is deranged, and that a recent non-partisan think tank has placed him at the rock bottom of presidents in their rankings.

I have been a public servant for the past 42 years, and I can honestly say that any political leanings have never entered into any decision making at the local level. I am personally involved with many special interest groups two of which are veterans and educators. I believe that each of these groups appear to make decisions based on as many “middle of the road” policies as possible. It would appear that each of these groups, along with many other groups representing the labor force, are strongly opposed to Trump. This is mainly due to his past behavior and policies, or lack of them. For someone to declare himself a patriot and then dismiss a riot in the Capital in which his supporters killed and injured Capital Police, caused millions of dollars worth of damage and smeared excrement on the walls as “normal” seems to me to be the actions of a deranged man. For our current representative to minimize these activities says a good deal about the moral high ground from which the Republican party now speaks.
