Vera Wendorff

MARSHALL — Service for Vera Wendorff, 96, of Marshall, formerly of Tracy, will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Tracy. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Remembrance Center. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Garvin. Memorials preferred to the hospice organization of donor’s choice.

Vera died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.

Vera (Molle) Wendorff was born Dec. 24, 1922, at home in Garvin to William and Clara (Pihl) Molle. She attended grade school in Garvin and graduated from Tracy High School in 1940. On July 11, 1946, she was united in marriage to Gordon Wendorff in Tracy. The couple farmed and raised their family in Amiret Township. In 1983, they moved into Tracy. Vera worked as a bookkeeper at the Garvin Creamery and also lived in Spokane, Wash., for a time before her marriage. She later worked at various jobs in Lyon County. Vera loved music and learned to play the accordion while in high school. She also enjoyed sewing from an early age. She made many garments for family and friends. She also made hundreds of quilts and gave many as gifts to recipients including family, friends, Ronald McDonald houses and nursing home residents. Vera enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and taking care of her family.

She is survived by her children Andrea (and John) Zwirner of Anoka, Darcay (and Dale) Kesteloot of Marshall, Sharon (and Gary) Kesteloot of Marshall, Gary (and Jeanette) Wendorff of Tracy, Beth (and Bradley) Wilson of North Mankato, Judy (and Dean) Hawks of Hertel, Wis., Twyla (and Troy) Gregoire of Brookings, S.D.; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister Ruth (and Larry) Karlson of Spokane, Wash., brother-in-law William Kennedy of Oregon; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon, and siblings Wilma (and Norman) Manken and Althea Kennedy, and brother-in-law Frank Thieren.
