Randy Sershen

MINNEOTA — A celebration of life for Randy David Sershen, 62, of Minneota, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the home of Nick and Nicky at 509 N. Grant St. in Minneota.

Randy passed away peacefully in his home Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, after a long battle of COPD.

Randy was born Sept. 26, 1956, to Jackie and Helen Sershen in Austin. He attended and graduated from high school in Austin. Randy went on to college and obtained a business degree. Soon after, he was employed by various car dealers. Randy then became his own boss as owner of RJ Motorsports in Albert Lea. On May 2, 2015, Randy was united in marriage to Cindy Esping and the two resided in Minneota.

Randy spent many hours at Lake Winnibigoshish in northern Minnesota. He had a passion for fishing, and enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Minnesota Wild. Randy was known to be an exceptional cook and always enjoyed making something new. He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially surprising his grandkids with a water balloon fight.

Randy is survived by his wife, Cindy of Minneota; his son James of Northfield, stepchildren Nick Esping (Nicky) of Minneota, Kayla Kimpe (Jason) of Tyler; mother-in-law Marilyn Esping (Bob) of Minneota; brothers Mike Sershen (Connie) of Delano, Dennis Sershen (Linda) of Twin Cities; brothers-in-law Rick Esping of Phoenix, Mark Esping of Ghent, and David Esping (Jackie) of Porter; uncle Sy Schaefer of Austin; and grandkids Lydia, Kendyle, Landon, Leah, Logan, Laney and Jaydin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and several aunts and uncles.
