Courts for Dec. 16

MARSHALL – Lester Corey Bates, 37, of Marshall, pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Dec. 8 to charges of domestic assault, court records said. Bates assaulted a woman in Marshall on Oct. 30, court records said. The court ordered a pre-sentencing investigation, and a sentencing hearing was set for Jan. 20.

MARSHALL – Darl John Johnson, 24, of Marshall, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 9 on charges of third degree controlled substance crime, fifth degree controlled substance crime, child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia. A complaint alleges Johnson possessed methamphetamines in Marshall on Aug. 14. A hearing was set for Jan. 6.

MARSHALL – Lance Carlos Mendoza Columbus, 26, of Tracy, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 9 on charges of fourth degree assault, obstructing legal process and disorderly conduct. A complaint alleges Columbus resisted peace officers and emergency medical responders in Tracy on Nov. 6. A hearing was set for Jan. 20.

MARSHALL – Krystal Anne Marie Martin, 28, of Marshall, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 9 on charges of first degree controlled substance crime – liability for crimes of another, second degree controlled substance crime – liability for crimes of another, two counts of methamphetamine-related crime involving children – liability for crimes of another charges, child endangerment – liability for crimes of another, possession of a small amount of marijuana – liability for crimes of another and possession of drug paraphernalia – liability for crimes of another. A complaint alleges Martin or an accomplice possessed methamphetamines in a home where children lived in Marshall on Nov. 21. A hearing was set for Jan. 6.

MARSHALL – Kasey Roy Westberg, 27, of Marshall, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 9 on charges of first degree controlled substance crime – liability for crimes of another, second degree controlled substance crime – liability for crimes of another, two counts of methamphetamine-related crime involving children – liability for crimes of another charges, child endangerment – liability for crimes of another, possession of a small amount of marijuana – liability for crimes of another and possession of drug paraphernalia – liability for crimes of another. A complaint alleges Westberg or an accomplice possessed methamphetamines in a home where children lived in Marshall on Nov. 21. A hearing was set for Jan. 6.

MARSHALL – Zachary Geza Horvath, 23, homeless, appeared in Lyon County District Court Dec. 9 on charges of first degree burglary, terroristic threats, third degree criminal property damage and disorderly conduct. A complaint alleges Horvath entered an apartment in Marshall without consent on Nov. 22 and threatened a woman. A hearing was set for Dec. 23. A request to reduce bail for Horvath was denied.

MARSHALL – Stephanie Lynn Roybal, 28, of Denver, Colo., pleaded not guilty in Lyon County District Court Dec. 9 to charges of first degree burglary, theft and motor vehicle theft. A complaint alleges Roybal entered a motel room in Marshall on Sept. 13 or 14, and stole property and a truck belonging to the occupant. A trial date was set for Jan. 14-15, with a date certain of Feb. 26-27. A pre-trial hearing was set for Jan. 6.

MARSHALL – Abdifatah Hassan Ahmed, 23, of Marshall, was sentenced in Lyon County District Court Dec. 9 for charges of third degree assault and financial transaction card fraud, court records said. Ahmed assaulted a man in Marshall on Oct. 4 and stole his debit card, court records said. Ahmed received a stay of imposition of sentence, a $500 fine and five years probation, with conditions including serve 75 days in jail with credit for 50 days already served, obtain a chemical use assessment, take a class, and abide by laws. Additional charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed.

MARSHALL – Jay Donald Strand, 33, of Marshall, pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Dec. 9 to charges of driving after cancellation – inimical to public safety, court records said. Strand drove with a canceled license in Marshall on Oct. 7, court records said. Strand received a stayed sentence of one year in jail, a $400 fine and two years probation, with conditions including complete 50 hours of community service work, only drive if properly insured and licensed, only drive a properly registered vehicle, and abide by laws.

MARSHALL – Agane Mohamed Warsame, 33, of Marshall, was sentenced in Lyon County District Court Dec. 9 for charges of violating a no-contact order and fifth degree assault. Warsame violated a no-contact order and assaulted a man in Marshall on July 9, court records said. Warsame was sentenced to two years in prison with credit for 154 days already served and pay a $100 fine. Additional charges of third degree assault were dismissed.
