Minnesota West Community & Technical College announced that Dean of Student Services Rebecca Weber has been selected as the 2020 recipient of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities ASA Outstanding Student Affairs Administrator Award. SMSU Theater season opens with ‘Peter and the Starcatcher’

SMSU Theater’s 53rd season opens with “Peter and the Starcatcher” by Rick Elice, based on the popular novel by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson, with music by Wayne Barker. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6-7 and 13-14, and 2 p.m. Nov. 8 and 14-15. All performances are in the SMSU Fine Arts Theatre, with free parking available in lot B-1. SMSU University Gala to go virtual

The Southwest Minnesota State University Foundation will continue the tradition of the University Gala by hosting a virtual event Oct. 25 through Nov. 1. The annual University Gala is the premier scholarship fundraising event for SMSU and is in its 31st year. Due to COVID-19 and the uncertainty around Homecoming early on, the decision was made to go virtual with a week-long event at the end of October. Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship created at SMSU

A new initiative — the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship — has been established at Southwest Minnesota State University. The Center will be housed within the newly-formed Department of Business Innovation & Strategy and will give students real-world experiences that will complement their classroom work.
