Minnesota West announces summer semester 2020 dean’s list Minnesota West Community & Technical College announced the summer semester 2020 dean’s list. Students must be enrolled in at least 12 graded credits and earn a minimum 3.5 grade-point average to be eligible for dean’s list honors. Summer 2020 dean’s list honors were extended to the following students from Minnesota West Community & Technical College: Jeanelle Chamberlain, Marshall; Amanda Nelson, Echo; Leah Popowski, Ivanhoe.

Homecoming at SMSU: ‘Mustangs Come Together — Six Feet Apart’

Homecoming 2020 at Southwest Minnesota State University will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, with a theme of “Mustangs Come Together — Six Feet Apart.” “This is an unusual Homecoming. Minnesota West Community & Technical College PN program recognized in Minnesota Minnesota West Community & Technical College was recently named fourth in Minnesota for PN programs by practicalnursing.org. When ranking PN programs practicalnursing.org considers multiple factors, including NCLEX-PN pass rates & statistics, accreditation, admission requirements, tuition & costs and other information. Gold College Zoom virtual kickoff event Sept. 30

The fall kickoff session for GOLD College will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, Sept. 30 starting at 1:30 p.m. The kickoff event will feature keynote speaker Amanda Sieling, assistant professor of justice administration, who will give a presentation, “Restorative Justice: Learn How Everyone is Affected by Crime — the Victim, Community and the Offender.” The event will include learning more about Zoom at 1:30 p.m., hearing more about this fall’s classes from instructors at 1:45 p.m., and Sieling’s talk at 2 p.m. The Zoom link is: ...

SMSU ranked 26th nationally for Best Early Childhood Education Program for 2020

Southwest Minnesota State University is ranked 26th in the nation for Best Early Childhood Education Program for 2020 by Study.com. Fifty schools were ranked across the country, and SMSU is the only Minnesota institution to make the list. When ranking these schools, Study.com took into account such factors as tuition, percentage of students who receive financial aid, graduation rate, placement services, career services, and what classes the university accepts as transfer credits for high school students. Area students awarded Workforce Development Scholarships More than 40 students at Minnesota State Community and Technical College have been awarded Workforce Development Scholarships in the first round of awards for the 2020-21 academic year. Michael DeVaan of Ghent was one of the students who received a scholarship. The $2,500 scholarships are funded by the Minnesota Legislature to help ease the shortage of skilled workers in high-demand career fields.
