Dahlman selected as Outstanding Educator at Minnesota West Kent Dahlman has been selected as this year’s Outstanding Educator for Minnesota West. As such, he will represent the college as a candidate for the Minnesota State Board of Trustees Educator of the year. Outstanding Educators are faculty identified at a college or university who are exemplary educators, identified through a local committee process, and nominated by the college or university president for selection as an Educator of the Year. 17th Undergraduate Research Conference Nov. 30

The 17th annual Undergraduate Research Conference will be from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Southwest Minnesota State University. Research projects from SMSU students representing 18 academic areas will be featured, according to conference coordinator Dr. Alyssa Anderson, associate professor of biology. Approximately 125 students will be participating. There are 108 poster presentations including 19 oral presentations, 27 virtual talks, 57 poster presentations, and five recitals. Schloesser named MARL executive director

Brad Schloesser has been named the next executive director of the Minnesota Agriculture and Rural Leadership Program (MARL) at SMSU. Schloesser is coming to MARL from South Central College in North Mankato & Faribault where he has served as the dean of Agriculture and served as the first director of the Minnesota State Southern Agricultural Center of Excellence. Prior to those leadership roles, Schloesser taught post-secondary agriculture for two decades. He has been a leader in agricultural education across the state for over 30 years and became a MARL alumnus in Class XI in June 2022. ...

SMSU ResHALLoween Oct. 29 The Southwest Minnesota State University Residence Hall Association (RHA) will host ResHALLoween from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, in various residence halls on campus. ResHALLoween allows children from the community to trick-or-treat through the residence halls of SMSU. All ages are welcome with the program geared primarily for children in grades preK-6. SMSU announces new master of science in Nursing: Nurse Educator Program Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) announces the new master of science in Nursing (MSN) Nurse Educator Program with the first cohort beginning in January 2023.
