Minnesota State System announces selection for the Luoma Leadership Academy

The Minnesota State system announced the selection of over 50 leaders from across its institutions, for the 12th cohort of the long-standing, premiere Luoma Leadership Academy. This esteemed program aims to foster professional growth, development, and collaboration among emerging Leaders within the higher educational community. SMSU Music to host Alumni Weekend More than 60 alumni have registered to join the SMSU Music Department that weekend. Most of them will be performing with the alumni band and/or the alumni choir that weekend. About half of these alumni were music majors, but the other half come from degree programs from many other departments. LaVoy senior recital to be April 21 at Lakeview

Carolyn Laufenburger, Redwood Falls, will present her vocal and piano student, Grace LaVoy, in a senior recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at the Lakeview School Auditorium in Cottonwood. The performance culminates a nearly a quarter century of LaVoys taking lessons from Laufenburger, with Grace being number five, and final of the Glen and Kathy LaVoy family. SMSU Student Association election results announced The Southwest Minnesota State University Student Association recently held the election for the 2024-2025 academic year. The turnout was an incredible display of student engagement with 618 students actively participating and completing ballots in the democratic process. Samuel Lund was re-elected to a second term as the SMSUSA president securing 90% of the votes. Lund is a senior political science/justice administration major from Buffalo. Southwest Minnesota State University had a reception on March 27 to recognize employees who achieved work anniversary milestones and those who are or have retired in the current academic year between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024. Each year, SMSU celebrates individuals who have reached 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years of service.
