Marshall speech team competes at Shakopee Speech Tournament

The Marshall Tiger speech team placed 4th out of 25 teams at the Shakopee Speech Tournament on Saturday. Eden Prairie, Wayzata, and Prior Lake finished ahead of Marshall. The Tigers were led by senior Isaiah Schroeder who advanced to championship finals and placed in the top three in all three of his events. Schroeder was named the tournament champion in drama, placed second in program oral interpretation, and third in duo with his partner Jack Pedersen. ‘Gallery Talk’ by Dr. Pat Brace is March 23 Southwest Minnesota State University Art Professor Dr. Pat Brace will present a “Gallery Talk” from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, March 23, in the William Whipple Gallery (Bellows Academic 291) on campus. Her topic will be “Art and Handicraft in the Women’s Building” at the 1893 World Columbian Exhibition (World’s Fair), in Chicago. Her talk is part of an exhibit during Women’s History Month featuring art works by and about women from the SMSU collection titled, “Women in Art.” The exhibition runs through the end of March. ...

Cattoor named to SJU dean’s list Seth Cattoor, son of Jay and Heather Cattoor of Marshall, has earned the distinction of being named to the dean’s list for the 2019 fall semester at Saint John’s University. Cattoor is a sophomore global business leadership major at SJU. To be included on the dean’s list, students must have a semester grade-point average of at least 3.80 and have completed 12 credits for which honor points (A, B, C, etc.) are awarded.
