University of Minnesota offensive lineman and Marshall native Blaise Andries signs with Miami Dolphins on free agent deal

MARSHALL — Blaise Andries is taking his talents to South Beach.
Shortly after the NFL draft concluded on Saturday evening, the University of Minnesota offensive lineman and Marshall native signed with the Miami Dolphins on an undrafted free agent deal. Andries is the second consecutive former Marshall High School football player to reach the NFL, with quarterback Trey Lance being selected third overall by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2021 draft.
“Excited to WORK!!!!!! #FinsUp” Andries tweeted after it was announced he signed with the Dolphins, who finished with a record of 9-8 last year in a season that featured a seven-game losing streak followed by a seven-game winning streak.
Andries isn’t the only Gopher that was either drafted or signed as a free agent. Boye Mafe went 40th overall to the Seattle Seahawks, Daniel Faalele went 110th overall to the Baltimore Ravens, Esezi Otomewo went 165th overall to the Minnesota Vikings, Ko Kieft went 218th overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jack Gibbens signed with the Tennessee Titans and Sam Schlueter signed with the 49ers.
Andries started in all 46 games he played with the U of M and played every position on the offensive line except center.
